Service Description

Where little cooks become confident young chefs. The Junior Chef Academy is the next exciting stage in your child’s cooking journey. Having developed the foundations of cooking in our Kindergarten Chefs classes, children now begin to take greater ownership of what they create and develop their skills with increasing independence. Through hands-on recipes and exciting cooking challenges, our Junior Chefs will learn to follow recipes, measure ingredients, develop safe knife and kitchen skills and prepare complete dishes. They’ll explore how different ingredients work together, discover new flavours and learn that nutritious food can be colourful, delicious and exciting. What will our Junior Chefs learn? πŸ”ͺ Kitchen & knife skills β€” developing safe, age-appropriate cutting and preparation techniques πŸ“– Recipe confidence β€” following recipes, understanding sequences and completing multiple steps πŸ“ Measuring & maths β€” weighing, measuring, counting and understanding quantities 🍳 Cooking techniques β€” chopping, mixing, baking, roasting, assembling and more πŸ₯• Food & nutrition β€” exploring ingredients, balanced meals and how food supports growing bodies 🎨 Creativity β€” experimenting with flavours, presentation and their own ideas 🀝 Teamwork β€” taking on different kitchen roles, communicating and cooking together πŸ’ͺ Independence β€” developing the confidence to complete more of a recipe with less adult support πŸ• What might they make? From homemade pizzas, colourful wraps and pasta dishes to savoury bakes, delicious muffins, energy bites and seasonal creations, our Junior Chefs will experience a variety of foods, flavours and cooking techniques. πŸ… Their badge journey continues! As their skills develop, children will take on new cooking challenges and work towards achievement badges that recognise their progress across kitchen skills, recipe confidence, nutrition, creativity and teamwork. They’ll also have opportunities to take part in team challenges and meaningful community food projects, giving them the chance to cook together, build friendships and discover how food can bring people and communities together. Parents don't need to stay for this class, although you're always welcome. With sessions capped at 10 children, every young chef can receive the encouragement and guidance they need to flourish.
